BLM to Prepare Amendment to East Alaska RMP for the Delta River Recreation Area

April 10, 2008 – BLM has published a notice of intent to prepare an amendment to the East Alaska Resource Management Plan (EARMP) for the Delta River Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA).  The planning area encompasses 45,000 acres of unencumbered land in the Delta Wild and Scenic River corridor including several designated OHV routes.  Though BLM completed management planning for the SMRA with the approval of the EARMP in September of last year, BLM has subsequently adopted new recreation planning requirements.  The new requirements call for recreation-related land use allocations and development of recreation management zones.  Even though these zones were designated within the SRMA, BLM proposes that some boundaries require changes, which could potentially affect designated OHV routes.
