BLM’s Alturas Field Office in California Completes Management Planning Process
May 6, 2008 – The Alturas Field Office in northeastern California has published a notice of availability for the Alturas Resource Management Plan (RMP) Record of Decision. The Record of Decision, signed by BLM’s California State Director, serves as the final step in the management planning process. The planning area includes 503,045 acres of public lands within Modoc, Lassen, Shasta, and Siskiyou Counties. The RMP designates routes open for motorized travel in 7 Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). Those ACECs are Ash Valley (1,322 acres), Timbered Crater (17,896 acres), Emigrant Trails (1,750 acres), Mountain Peaks (3,500 acres), Old-Growth Juniper (3,115 acres), Mount Dome (1,510 acres), and Yankee Jim/Likely Tablelands/Fitzhugh Creek (1,400 acres).
