BLM’s Surprise Field Office in California & Nevada Completes Management Planning Process

May 6, 2008 – BLM’s Surprise Field Office in northeastern California and western Nevada has published a notice of availability for the Surprise Resource Management Plan (RMP) Record of Decision.  The Record of Decision, signed by BLM’s California State Director, serves as the final step in the management planning process.  The planning area includes 1,220,644 acres in Modoc and Lassen Counties in California as well as Humboldt and Washoe Counties in Nevada.  The RMP designates routes open for motorized travel in 3 Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC).  Those ACECs are Massacre Rim (44,870 acres), Bitner (1,921 acres), and Rahilly-Gravelly (957 acres).  Motorized travel off designated routes within the ACECs is prohibited.  To view the Record of Decision and maps of designated routes, please click here
