BLM Plans to Design a Recreation Management Plan & Travel System for the Gateway Area in Colorado

December 20, 2007 – The Grand Junction Field Office has published a Notice of Intent to make a Draft Amendment/Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Grand Junction Resource Management Plan (RMP).  The planning area consists of 198,000 acres of public land in Mesa and Montrose counties.  BLM deemed a Draft Amendment/EA would be necessary to consider input from the public.  Thus, this notice initiates the process by which the public can make comments to influence the scope of the recreation management plan and travel system.  Though a formal comment period will not start until the release of the Draft Amendment/EA, comments are currently acceptable and may be submitted by email to: GJFO_webmail@blm.gov or by mail to:

Grand Junction Field Office
2815 H Road
Grand Junction, CO 81506

For further information, please contact Ken Straley, Supervisory Outdoor Recreation Planner at (970) 244-3031 or Kenneth_straley@blm.gov.  To view the original notice in the Federal Register, please click here.
