Emergency Public Lands Closure in Gunnison and Saguache Counties, CO

January 30, 2008 – BLM has announced an emergency closure of certain public lands in Gunnison and Saguache Counties to motorized vehicles.  The closure is intended to prevent unnecessary harm to wintering mule deer, bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, and elk herds while the Colorado Division of Wildlife continues its emergency feeding program that was initiated because of extreme winter conditions.  The closure is effective immediately and will end no later than May 15, 2008.
