ARRA Submits Testimony to Congress on OHV Management on Public Lands
On March 13, 2008, the House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands held a hearing on OHVs on federal lands. The Subcommittee heard testimony from BLM and USFS officials, ARRA member - NOHVCC, and others, including anti-access group representatives. Comments from the Subcommittee Members, both Republican and Democrat, were largely supportive of managed OHV use on federal lands.

National Landscape Conservation System Legislation
ARRA members responded in huge numbers to our recent campaign urging you to weigh in on legislation currently pending in Congress to codify the National Landscape Conservation System. If enacted, it will almost certainly mean a loss of recreational opportunities on public lands. Nearly 6,000 comments were generated from ARRA members to Members of the House Natural Resources Committee. We will again be asking you to send letters to the House and Senate as the legislation moves along in the process. Read ARRA's Press Release.
Learn about East Coast access issues too - Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina is an OHV destination for many. Also in this month's newsletter, take the Travel Management Survey and learn more about Election 2008.

The U.S. Forest Service is in the process of implementing its Travel Management Rule. The rule requires all forests to designate and map OHV routes and when completed, no OHV use will be allowed except on these designated routes. Now that individual Forests are in the process of implementing the rule, it is extremely important that OHV riders participate in this process.
ARRA will continue to provide you with as much advance information about the designation process as possible. We have also compiled a comprehensive list of all National Forests for the convenience of our ARRA members. We encourage you to find the Forrest(s) closest to you and visit its website regularly, as it may have more up-to-date information, and to contact your Forest and find out how you can participate by attending public meetings, preparing comments, etc.
