BLM’s Upper Snake Field Office Begins Management Revision Process
March 19, 2008 – BLM’s Upper Snake Field Office of the Idaho Falls District in Idaho has published a notice of intent to prepare a Resource Management Plan (RMP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the management of 1.8 million acres in Blain, Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Clark, Fremont, Jefferson, Madison, Power, and Teton Counties. The RMP/EIS will replace the Big Desert Management Framework Plan (MFP), the Big Lost MFP, and the Medicine Lodge RMP. This notice initiates the public scoping process and comment period, which will serve to identify the range of issues to be addressed in the RMP/EIS, the criteria to be used, and alternatives to be analyzed. The scoping period will last until 15 days after the last scoping meeting. BLM will hold a series of public meetings to be subsequently scheduled, so check for schedule updates regularly by clicking here. Upon release of a Draft RMP/EIS, a 90-day comment period will be initiated.
