U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Finalizes Conservation Plan for the Catahoula National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana

January 7, 2008 – The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service published a notice of availability for the Final Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP)/Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Catahoula National Wildlife Refuge, which serves as the final step in the planning process for the Refuge’s management over the next 15 years.  The Refuge encompasses 25,242 acres in LaSalle and Catahoula Parishes.  ATV use on existing routes was determined to have no significant impact.  ATV’s are currently permitted on 21.6 miles of designated routes on the Bushley Bayou Unit.
