Emergency Public Lands Closure in Douglas County, NV

January 30, 2008 – BLM has announced an emergency closure of certain public lands in the Pine Nut Mountain Range of Douglas County to motorized vehicles.  The closure is intended to protect the Ruhenstroth paleontological resources from further adverse effects caused by unrestricted OHV use.  The closure is effective immediately and will remain in effect for five months and may be renewed until the release of the Record of Decision for the Pine Nut Mountains Resource Management Plan Amendment.
