Emergency Public Lands Closure in Twin Falls County, ID & Elko County, NV

January 11, 2008 – BLM’s Jarbidge Field Office has issued an emergency closure for motorized vehicles to protect natural resources as recommended in the Department of the Interior’s Emergency Stabilization and Rehabilitation Plan for the Murphy Complex Fire.  Traveling cross-country in burned areas may damage reemerging plants and increase erosion.  Motorized vehicles will be allowed on established routes within the fire area.  Likewise, closure signs will be posted at main entry points to this area.  The closure will remain in effect until BLM determines that soil stabilization and growth of vegetation have reached satisfactory levels.

For further information, please contact Max Yingst, Outdoor Recreation Planner, at (208) 736-2362.  To view the original notice in the Federal Register, please click here
