BLM to Revise Baker Resource Area Resource Management Plan for OR & WA
January 15, 2008 – BLM’s Baker Field Office has published a notice of intent to revise the Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the Baker Resource Area of the Vale District with an associated Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The planning area encompasses approximately 423,000 acres in Baker, Union, Wallowa, Morrow, and Umatilla Counties in Oregon and in Asotin County, Washington. BLM has identified public access and OHV management among the specific issues relevant to the initial scoping phase of the RMP revision. BLM will seek to identify where better access is warranted, where it should remain the same, and where it should be restricted. Public scoping meetings will subsequently be scheduled to discuss these issues.
Comments regarding the scope of the RMP revision will be accepted until 30 days after the last public scoping meeting. Comments may be submitted by email to bakerrmp@blm.gov, by fax to 541-523-1965, or by mail to:
Bureau of Land Management Baker Field Office P.O. Box 947 Baker City, OR 97814
For further information, please contact Allison Kuehl, RMP Team Leader, at 541-523-1931. To view the original notice in the Federal Register, please click here.
