BLM Extends OHV Restriction in Imperial County, California

April 14, 2009 – BLM has published a notice extending an existing restriction on all forms of motorized travel on 122 acres of public land located in the proximity of Walters Camp in Imperial County, California until 9/30/10.  BLM states that they extended the restriction to allow for the completion of the Ehrenber-Cibola Travel Management Plan, which will designate OHV routes in the vicinity of this restriction.  When originally established in 2006, the Yuma Field Office stated that the restriction was to provide BLM with the opportunity to inventory and assess the natural and cultural resource values that were transferred to BLM from the Fish and Wildlife Service after being incorrectly included in the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge.
