BLM's Butte Field Office Completes Land Management Process

May 27, 2009 – BLM’s Butte Field Office in Montana has published a notice of availability for it Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan (RMP), which is the final step in the planning process. The Butte Field Office manages about 307,00 acres of public land in Beaverhead, Broadwater, Deerlodge, Gallatin, Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, Park and Silver Bow Counties in western Montana. OHV travel management was one of the major issues included in the Approved RMP. The RMP designates 283 acres as open, 31,500 acres as closed and 275,526 acres as limited to designated routes. OHV use on designated routes is subject to seasonal closures and classes of vehicles. All OHV use off designated routes is prohibited. Changes to current travel plans include converting the open areas located within the Elkhorn Mountains and one half of the open 632-acre Radersburg OHV area to limited.
