Emergency Public Lands Closure in Beaver County, Utah

May 23, 2008 – BLM has issued an emergency closure of public lands in Beaver County, Utah to all motorized use within the restricted area administered by the Cedar City Field Office.  The closure’s stated purpose is to “prevent further degradation of the watershed, and to protect soils from erosion and damage by motorized vehicles following stabilization efforts” deemed necessary after the Milford Flat wild fire of 2007.  Motorized use will only be allowed on routes marked “open” and camping is limited to 50 feet of any open route within the restricted area.  The closure will remain in effect until November 1, 2009Click here to view maps of the restricted area.
